You consider off the large cylinder with the brushes on it, and right after putting the belt around the tiny pulley, you place it all around the huge cylinder and push it it into place in which it locks in.

Start by turning it over so you are looking at the operational side – the “beater bar”. Should be a couple a screws to undo so then you can get to the beater bar. Get the old belt out and either match it up with the new one or buy correct replacement.

If you haven’t removed the old belt yet… you need to flip the vacuum over to access the underside. There may be screws, or just clips, depending on your model. Once the access plate is removed you should be able to pull out the rotating brush bar. Loop the belt over the brush bar, and then over the motor armature. Many of the new belts look like they are too short to reach, but they will stretch. Just push on the brush bar to stretch the belt, and put it back down into the frame. Note – the end of the brush bar may be a square fitting… you need to align it with the holder, so it goes in properly. Once the brush bar is down in its socket, replace the access plate, and you’re good to go

(It may take a little strength to stretch the belt…I recently changed one that the owner said it would not fit)
